AUSTIN, aged about 75 years. Mr. Austin was a native of Greene County, from which he removed to the vicinity of Covington about fifty years ago, being one of the earliest settlers as well as the most universally respected, citizens of what is now called Newton County. Although he had for many years had a home in the salvation of God, a sense of unworthiness kept him from uniting with the church. As in life he commanded the respect of the whole community, so his death is universally lamented. His funeral was largely attended at Holly Spring Church on the 22d, when a sermon suited to the solemn occasion was preached by the pastor, Elder J. L. Purington, from John XI, 25, 36.
