Death of Miss Denie Bagby
     At five minutes to six o’clock, Monday afternoon, July 22, the soul of 
Miss DENIE BAGBY winged its flight from this earth to a better land beyond the 
stars. She fell asleep in the arms of Jesus with a smile upon her sweet face. 
She had confessed a Hope and did not fear to die. It was hard, she said, to 
leave Papa and sister Ludie, but aside from that death had no terrors whatever 
for her.
     Miss Denie was the oldest daughter of Mr. R. W. Bagby, and would have been 
20 years old had she lived to November 20th. She had been in feeble health 
since May last, and through all her hours of pain and sickness she offered no 
complaint, but bore her afflictions with patience and Christian fortitude. She 
was one of the best young ladies we ever knew, always modest and unassuming, 
always kind, generous and companionable, possessing a gentle disposition, with 
sweet face and fair form she made friends all along life’s journey and was 
beloved by all who knew her. She was the pet and pride of a devoted father’s 
home and a loving sister’s heart. It is difficult now to pay a fitting tribute 
to her memory.
     Tuesday afternoon her remains were laid to rest by the side of her sainted 
mother who had been summoned Home two short years ago. Impressive funeral 
services were held at the Methodist church and at the grave, conducted by Rev. 
W. H. LaPrade, who was called from ministerial duties abroad, by telegraph, he 
having left Miss Denie only a short while before she breathed her last. May 
flowers of beauty ever bloom upon her grave. Our people, one and all,
condole with Mr. Bagby and his only remaining child.
