Beebe. Since our last publication day, we have received intelligence of the death of the oldest brother of the editor of this paper, GIBERT JUDSON BEEBE, who expired quite unexpectedly on Thursday the 12th inst., at Poughkeepsie, N. Y., where he was under treatment in this State Asylum, for the recuperation of his health, which had broken down physically and mentally under the pressure of Intense exertions in the late campaign, and the heat of the summer in New York City, where he was publishing the “Banner of Liberty.” His friends were hopeful of a speedy recovery under the skillful treatment of experienced physicians in the Asylum, but were startled by tidings of his death ere he had been there a week. He had not quite completed the 49th year of his age. A brother’s pen may not record his virtues. Fraternal love is only conscious that the grim death angel has invaded the family circle and taken one of us to his long home. May the soft hand of Eternal Love soothe the bleeding hearts of his bereaved widow and orphans and sustain them and our aged parents under this heavy sorrow. From this sad announcement, patrons of the “Banner of Liberty” will understand why they have failed to receive their papers. Whether its publication will probably he continued in future we have not been informed.
