The Georgia Enterprise, June 6, 1884
     The death of Mrs. J. W. Branham, aged about forty-one, which occurred on 
the 30th ult., after a few days illness of Enteric Fever, has cast a gloom over
our entire community. A woman so universally beloved for her many virtues and 
christian benevolence, has rarely lived in Oxford. No eulogy from our pen could
add one lustre to the character she adorned. We drop a farewell tear o'er the 
grave of our departed friend, and extend to her bereaved husband, our friend,
our heart-felt condolence in this the saddest hour that ever befalls man in this
"vale of tears" - the loss of a true and devoted wife.
