Brown, at his residence, five miles from Covington, on Friday last, removes another valuable land-mark from Newton county. For months past Mr. Brown has been in feeble health, but up to the very moment of his death he was able to be up and about. He was an honest, upright, hightoned, honorable man, who loved and feared God and endeavored to keep His commandments. He was a consistent member of the Methodist church, and had been connected with that worthy denomination for near half a century. Mr. Brown was our friend in life, and in death we drop a tender tear to his sacred memory, and extend our sympathies to his aged companion, children, relatives and friends in their bereavement. At the time of his death Mr. Brown was nearing the three score years and ten, the time allotted man for his pilgrimage here on earth- a tiresome journey at best, as it were, from the noisy little cradle to the cold and silent grave.
