She died of typhoid fever and was sick just one week. Her condition was serious from the first and she continued to grow worse and suffered up to the last. All that loving hands could do, was done for "dear Mary," and nothing could save her dear young life. She was nineteen years of age and was in the bloom of life. She was the pride of her home and was loved by all who knew her. She was always willing to help those that were in distress. And many are the good deeds she did in this life. She never failed to do her duty in time of sickness. As a child, to her parents she was an obediant and willing daughter, always doing her part. She had a pleasant smile and loving word for all and made friends wherever she went. Her death sent sorrow to the hearts that knew her and she will be missed by her loved ones and many friends. She is survived by a father and mother, four brothers and four sisters who have the heart-felt sympathy of all our people in their sad bereavment. Her remains were interred Friday afternoon at four o'clock in the Byrd cemetery. May we all meet "dear Mary" in Heaven where "we will never more say goodbye." "A dear one from us is gone, A voice we loved is still, A place is vacant in her home, Which can never be filled." -M.F.E.
