H. D. CAPERS, of Oxford, had been accidentally shot through the head, with a pocket pistol, and was in a very critical condition. Col. CAPERS, who was in Covington at the time the accident occurred, hastened home with all possible speed, but only reached there to find his darling boy in the agonies of death, but a few minutes before his angel- spirit took its flight from earth. He was between four and five years of age, and died in about two hours after receiving the fatal shot. It seems he had gotten hold of a small pocket pistol belonging to his elder brother, and in his childish glee, said he "was going to fight the Modocs," and not knowing it to be loaded, was snapping it, when, in an unlucky moment, it fired- the ball taking effect in the right side of his head, causing death in about two hours. He was a most intelligent and remarkably bright boy for his age, and the pride and joy of his father's heart. That he should be thus suddenly snatched away from, his devoted parents, is a most crushing affliction; and we extend to them our earnest, heart felt sympathy, in this their sad bereavement. And just here we would remind parents of the fearful responsibility of allowing fire arms in the house where children may possibly get hold of them. It is too late to take warning after your child may have paid the penalty of your negligence with its precious young life. The funeral of little CHARLIE took place in Oxford, yesterday morning at 10 o'clock.
