Carson Dead On Monday morning, December 9th, at 6:30 o’clock, Mr. Willie W. Carson passed away at the home of his father and mother, Rev. and Mrs. W. N. Carson, at Starrsville. While his death was not altogether unexpected, still it came as a shock to his relatives and friends. He had been in feeble health for almost a year, and in spite of tender nursing and careful attention he grew gradually worse. He had been for several years on the Atlanta police force, and was held in the highest esteem by his fellow officers. It was during the riot in Atlanta that he contracted a fearful cold, caused by getting wet while on duty at that trying time. The cold developed into tuberculosis, which caused his death. His amiable, generous and clever disposition won many friends, who grieve over his untimely death. He was born March 24th, 1879, and while it seems sad that he should be cut down in the bloom of young manhood, we should feel comforted by knowing that he was ready to go to that mansion “beyond the smiling and the weeping.” He expressed his willingness to go. Among his last words were: “Tell my friends when I am gone that there is no tuberculosis in my soul.” He is survived by his father and mother, one sister, Mrs. Webb Jackson, of Hayston. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Granade, of Stone Mountain, and Rev. Joe Winburn, of Mansfield, in an impressive manner. Interment was at Hayston. The sympathy of many friends are extended to the bereaved family. A Friend.
