CARTER, near Madison, Ga., on Saturday, August 30th, MISS SADIE CARTER, died at half past 12 o'clock, and within less than one hour, her youngest sister, MISS NANNIE CARTER, followed her, both dying of congestion, after suffering with Billous Fever about one week. The gloom of the whole community attests their deep sympathy with the widowed mother, and smitten brothers and sisters in this double affliction, while every one who enjoyed their acquaintance, feels the stroke as a personal loss; for it was emphatically true of the gentle and lovely departed that "None knew them but to love them, None named them but to praise." Yet, to the family, in their great sorrow, the Morning Star shines softly through the gloomy darkness, with assurance that they are no dead, but sleeping; while all the rapture of Heaven fills their souls in the presence of their loving Redeemer, who has taken them to himself. Of them it may well be said in the words of inspiration, "Lovely and pleasant in their lives, and in their death they were not divided." Be still! Our selfish, murmuring grief! Each bleeding, smitten heart, be calm! Look to the Savior for relief! He wounds and He applies the balm. The pearly jewels He bestowed, Their loveliness by Him was given, He gathered only what he sowed; "The Lord had need of them" in Heaven.
