DEATH'S SAD ROLL
  Mr. Samuel Chafin died at his home in Brick Store district, on Friday last, 
Sept. 11th. Aged about 87 years. He was one of the best known men in Newton 
county, having acted as Bailiff to the grand jury for over 40 years. He was a 
noble man, kind and gentle to everybody. May our old friend sleep sweetly.
