W. L. Davis Dead Hon. Wilson L. Davis is dead. He breathed his last at his home in Rocky Plains, last Wednesday morning, November 22nd, 1899, of paralysis. He was one of the oldest, and best known men in the county, and has scores of friends throughout the state who lament his untimely death. At the time of his death he was 82 years of age, and had been active in his private matters until several months ago, when he had a stroke of paralysis, from which he never recovered. Mr. Davis was one of Newton County’s landmarks. He was true to his friends, an affectionate husband and father, and a devout and true Christian. His remains were laid to rest in the family burying ground Thursday, surrounded by a host of friends and relatives.
