The Enterprise, Jan. 7, 1887
  Hon. W. F. Davis, died at his home near Starrsville, on Monday morning last.
He was a brother of Major John B. Davis, of this city. Thus passes from this 
earth a true and noble man whose heart was always kind to his fellow man. Our 
county looses a pure and upright citizen. We mourn with his family and friends 
in the great loss they have sustained in his death. Peace be to his blessed 
memory. His remains were interred in the family burying groung at Newborn, 
Tuesday, where a large number of his friends gathered to participate in the 
last sad rites of this most worthy gentleman. A fitting and appropriate tribute 
will probably be written, ere long, setting forth the life and history of our 
dead friend.
