Funeral services were held at Liberty Church with interment in the churchyard. Dr. W. T. Irvine and Rev. Walker Combs being the officiating clergy. Mrs. Day's husband the late James A. Day predeceased her in 1917. Mrs. Day was an active and much loved member of the Porterdale chapter of the Eastern Star, and a lifelong resident of Newton County. She leaves to mourn her loss, a daughter, Mrs. W. D. Collum and six sons, Alex, John, Carl, Frank, George and Oliver, all residents of this community. The six sons acted as pall bearers at the funeral, bearing their mother to the tomb. R.E. Everitt, Covington funeral director was in charge.
