She had just quit work and was standing near the elevator, looking down into the darkness below, heedless that the elevator was coming down loaded down with machinery. It struck her before she knew it breaking her neck, splitting her head, breaking her shoulder blade, and badly mutilating her body. She was one of the factory hands and has been in the employ of the factory for two years. She is said to have been a bright happy child with a large number of friends and few enemies.
