A. Dyer That which was mortal of Allen Dyer is no more, though he still lives. He was born Dec. 6, 1839; married Miss Overton Terrell, Dec. 6, 1868; became a member of the Primitive church June 19, 1898, and died June 28, 1907. He was a private in the civil war and clung to the principles of government established until his death. He was born just one hundred years after William Herschel who, by the aid of sister, still lives as the most learned philosopher. Shakespeare, Tennyson and Emerson found their work and pursued it. Dyer was greater than they,as he was strong where they were weak- a type of sturdy manhood unsurpassed. The entire atmosphere of the man was one of gentleness, repose and kindly good will. His religion was of the heart, self sacrificing and willing that others should have the glory, never contending for first place. He was an honest man who loved his friends; a neighbor true, loyal generous and kind. He leaves a devoted wife, daughter and son. To emulate his life is the highest type of citizenry. P. D.
