Edwards Passes Away at Age of Eighty-Three Mrs. Addie Bryan Edwards, widow of Col. E. F. Edwards, quietly passed away at her home on Monticello Street, Friday afternoon being nearly eighty-three years of age. She had been ill of brights disease for several months but was seemingly as well as usual the day before her death when she went to the dining room for her meals. Friday afternoon she went to sleep and did not wake up. She leaves one brother, Dr. Jasper Bryan, of Elberton; three children; W. A. Edwards, of Idaho, Mrs. G. L. Patterson, of Los Angeles, Cal., and Mrs. W. H. Gray, of Asheville, N. C., and several grandchildren. The funeral service was conducted at the home at three o'clock, Sunday afternoon by her pastor, Rev. Walker Combs, of the Baptist church and interment followed at West View Cemetery. Mrs. Edwards was born and reared in Covington and in her younger days was very active in patriotic and civic organizations. She was a charter member of the Sargeant Newton Chapter D. A. R. and an active member of the U. D. C. and the W. C. T. U. She was a gifted writer and her children cherish many of her writings as she was a contributor to magazines and newspapers in years gone by. While her husband was alive, and her children were at home they dispensed a bountiful and open hospitality and many old Emory boys were charmingly entertained in this delightful home. Among those from out of town who attended her funeral were her daughter, Mrs. W. H. Gray, her grand-daughters, Mrs. R. F. Schley, and Miss Emma Gray and great-grand-daughter, Martha Gray Schley, of Asheville, N. C., and a niece, Mrs. Chas. Duval, of Decatur.
