The Georgia Enterprise, November 25, 1904
"Uncle" Jack Ellis Dead
  Mr. Jack Ellis, of Monroe, well known to the people of Covington, passed away 
suddenly at his home in Monroe last Monday night.
  Mr. Ellis had been engaged in the hotel business for a number of years, 
having been located at Covington, Greensboro and Monroe. During the year 1903 
he was proprietor of the Ellis House in this city. At the time of his death he 
was in charge of the Hotel Walton at Monroe.
