L. Graves, of Brick Store district, departed this life on Saturday last. She was always kind and benevolent and did all in her power to make others happy. She was a gentle Christian lady, honored and beloved by all who knew her. May flowers bloom in beauty over the last resting place of this Mother in Israel who has been called from the toils and cares of this life to the joys and blessings of that better life which lies beyond the stars. In the same edition of The Georgia Enterprise. TRIBUTE OF RESPECT Mrs. Sarah W. Graves, relic of the late Iverson L. Graves, was born Sept. 2, 1814, and died at her late residence in Newton County, Ga., of Pneumonia, October 19, 1889. The decease of her husband, 25 years ago, devolved upon her the care of a young family, composed, not only of her own children, but part of other families of deceased friends and relatives. The manner in which she won the hearts and molded the characters of these children of different families and varying temperaments, showed that she was a woman of gift and grace far beyond what are met in ordinary life. Among the many I have met, I cannot recall one whom I regard her superior in true excellency of character. As neighbor, as mistress, as sister, as friend, as mother, as wife, as Christian, few, if any, within my knowledge, have attained to a higher standard. If she had any faults they were undetected by her intimate associates. If she lacked any grace or virtue, in kind, it was unknown to all, but herself and her God. Oxford, October 22, ‘89 W. R. B.
