THOMPSON, who was born near Winchester, S. C., in November, 1799, and died in the 85th year of his age. He connected himself with the Presbyterian church in early life. From his native State he moved to Georgia and there connected himself with the church at Covington, Ga., in the year 1829, where he remained a member until the year 1842, when a church was organized at Bethany, near his home in Newton county, and he moved his membership there and attended regular the remainder of his life. He was connected with the church near sixty years, and was a strict observer of its ordinances, and also a firm temperance advocate; showing by his pious walk and Godly conversation, that he believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, and the command being obeyed by the Phillippian Jailer that obedience would not only save him but his household, and we trust that the belief of our deceased father was not only sufficient for himself but for his household. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou and thy household shall be saved. -A FRIEND File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ga/newton/obits/gob1609thompson.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/gafiles/ File size: 1.8 Kb
