H. Hardin In loving memory of my Grandfather, who died Dec. 25th, 1905, age seventy- five years, six months and twenty four days. "Death loves a shining mark." This was forcibly illustrated in the death of this precious one. Heaven has been made to rejoice as one more jewel has been gathered home. "Passing away" is written on door post of every house, and heard in the echo of every foot steps, but is not felt until the unerring archer, "Death," strikes the fatal blow into the heart of those we love so dearly. He no longer lives on earth, but in the heart of his bereaved ones and in the memory of his friends. The long night watches are over those dear hands have been folded over the pulseless breast, the funeral dirge has dried away in the distance, and the coffin has been closed; Oh!, so long upon his loving face, serenely calm in death, and all that is now left to the sorrowing hearts of his bereaved ones is the "head stone," which marks his resting place in the city of the dead. He seemed perfectly happy all through his illness, and bore his affliction with patience. All was done for him which loving hands could do, but his heart was fixed on Jesus, and he called him home. How sad and lonely are our hearts, Never shall his memory fade away, Sweet thoughts shall ever linger, Round the grave where he was laid. Friends may think the wound is healed, Little do they know our sorrow, Rest in Peace dearest Grandfather, One sad year has passed away, Thou art gone but not forgotten, In the minds of every one. One by one the flowers are taken. One by one the roses fall, And we carefully remember, Pain and sorrow comes to all. God has given, God has taken, And dearest, we must bear the pain.
