It came from the south-west going toward the north-east, and the first damage heard of was the unroofing of several houses on Mr. Joe Ellington’s place; from here it swept down trees and fences for half a mile when it struck the residence of Mr. J. W. Henderson, located on the line of Walton, and blew the house down on Mr. Henderson, his wife and six children. The chimney fell on Mr. Henderson killing him instantly; his wife and baby were seriously injured, while the other children were slightly hurt. After the fearful work of death and desolation the cyclone seemed to have power and only blew down one or two out houses and a few trees on Mr. Wm. Bird’s place. From here it swept on toward Jersey, where it rose in the air and disappeared. No other lives were lost and no other persons hurt so far as we have been able to ascertain. The path of the cyclone was from 25 to 100 yards wide and remained near the earth for not over a distance of five miles in length.
