B. M. HOLLIS At about 8 o’clock late Tuesday, Mr. Barton M. HOLLIS suddenly died at the home of his son in law, Mr. Isaac A. STANTON, in Brick Store district where he had gone on a visit. He had eat a hearty breakfast and was in the front yard gathering some flowers, when he became weak and sank to the ground. Loving hands bore him tenderly in the house where he almost breathed his last in a few moments. Mr. HOLLIS was an industrious man, a kind neighbor and a devoted husband and father. He was a plain practical man and by honest toil had accumulated considerable wealth. Those who knew him best, loved him most. His sudden death will bring sadness to the hearts and homes of his many relatives and friends here and elsewhere. He had been in feeble health, but it was thought that he was fast gaining strength and vigor. At the time of his demise he was about 64 years. He was laid to rest in the family cemetery, near his country home, on Wednesday morning, May 4th. He leaves a wife, several children and loved ones all over this section to mourn his death and lament his loss. While not an active member of any church, he possessed a warm and generous heart, was kind and benevolent, social and hospitable and his pleasant face and hopeful conversation will be missed from our streets. May our old friend sleep sweetly.
