N. P. Hunter, one of the oldest merchants and citizens of Covington, is dead. After long weeks of pain and suffering, death came to his relief on the evening of January 28. He was never married, and his life slowly ebbed away without the tender touch of a loving woman's devoted hand to soothe his aching brow. Although his every wish was gratified and all his wants supplied by kind friends, the death bed scene must have presented a wierd and painful picture without the presence of either kith or kin to bid a last farewell to the dying man. So far as the good's of this world were concerned Colonel Hunter had an abundance, and was liberal to his personal and particular friends. He was by means a society man, for his life was one of labor and perserverance, and he fought his way unaided and alone from the humble hut of poverty to the more exalted position of a wealthy citizen and an honest merchant. For many long years the writer knew Col. Hunter and admired him for his independence and industry. May his rest be unbroken and may he sleep sweetly within the silent portals of his grave yard home. Age ?? years. Additional Comments: Age is unreadable. This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/gafiles/ File size: 1.7 Kb
