MARTHA HYER Mrs. Martha Hyer died at her home in Covington on Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 20, 1895. She was one of the best and gentlest ladies in the county and was beloved and esteemed by all who knew her. She devoted her long life to deed of kindness and mercy. The poor and needy always found in her a friend and helper. She leaves a devoted daughter, (Mrs. J. W. Worsham), and several loving sons to lament her death and to treasure her sweet memory. Besides these she has many relatives and friends, here and elsewhere, who mourn in sorrow her departure. Mrs. Hyer has lived in Covington and Newton county almost all her life and has been a true and loyal member of the Methodist church for a long number of years. On Thursday her remains were buried in the family section in the Oxford cemetery. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Dr. Morgan Callaway. At the time of her death she was about 75 years old.
