Haygood, which sad event took place at his home at Oxford, Ga., at 2 o’clock on Sunday morning last from a stroke of paralysis, which he received in Atlanta a few months ago. Bishop Haygood was 56 years of age and one of the most useful men in Georgia. As a Christian gentleman he was beyond censure. As a minister and educator he surpassed all others. To say that the Southern Methodist Church has lost one of its brightest and most useful members but faintly expresses the truth. A page sacred to his memory has been left upon the roll book of the Methodist Sunday School of Butler which church he dedicated a few years ago.
