A native of Newton County, he was the son of the late WIlliam P. and Georgia Ann Tettard Kitchens and was 73 years old at the time of his death. Kitchens operated a Gulf Service Station here for approximately 25 years prior to his retirement. During this time he gained many friends with his ready smile and cheerful and efficient srevice. Funeral services were conducted Teusday morning at the Chapel of Calwell and Cowan Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas J. White officiating. Interment was in Lawnwood Memorial Park with Calwell and Cowan Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Serving as pallbearers were Wendell Kitchens, Bernard Kitchens, Julian Kitchens, Fred Lott, Hugh Steele and Bryant Steele. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Annie C. Kitchens, sons, William L. (Buster) Kitchens, Don Kitchens, all of Covington; CWO Jack Kitchens, Ft. Gordon; daughter, Mrs. Mary Virginia Russell, sisters, Mrs. Era Lott, Mrs. Lavada Hawk, Mrs Lucille McMicheal, all of Covington, Mrs. Bernice Hudson, Jersey, eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
