Aged about 79 years. He was born in Newton county, in 1818 at or very near the place where he died, and has always been an active and industrious man. He was social and kind hearted and made many friends all along the journey of life. He was a loyal Mason and endeavored to live up to its high teachings and requirements. “Uncle” Joel Kitchens will be missed and mourned by all who knew him, especially by the people in his immediate neighborhood. His body was laid to rest in the family cemetery, near his home, on Friday. He leaves a number of children and many friends and dear ones to lament his death and cherish his memory.
