Aged 82 years. He was modest and unassuming, upright and honorable in all his dealings, and the world has been made better by his having lived in it. He had been a resident of this county for 41 years, and had been an obedient servant of the Lord for 60 years. He was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church, and a Christian man, true to his vows and just toward his fellow-men. He was an earnest and worthy Mason, loved the order and practiced its glorious teachings. He was an old time Southern gentleman, always polite, courteous and hospitable. It would be impossible in so limited a space to give the history of this good man’s life and tell of his many virtues. On Thursday he was buried, near his home, with Masonic honors. He will be mourned and missed by all who knew him. He leaves many loved ones and dear friends to lament his death, all of whom have the sweet consolation of believing that he lives in Glory in that land beyond the stars. His pure and spotless life is bequeathed as a rich and lasting legacy to his children, his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren.
