Thursday, Feb. 14, a kiln of lumber fell upon our young friend inflicting injuries from which he died in a few hours. His brother, Mr. Evan Lunsford, of this city, was telegraphed for so soon as the accident occurred and left on the first train, but did not arrive until after death had ensued. The remains were brought to his Newton County home in Hay’s district, Saturday, and on Sunday Elder J. G. Eubanks preached the funeral at the residence of Mr. A. B. Lunsford, father of the deceased, after which the body was interred in the family burying ground, near the home of Mr. L. T. Biggers. In the same enclosure sleep mother and son, one killed by being thrown from a buggy a few years since, the other killed only last Thursday by the accidental fall of a pile of lumber. Mr. McLeroy Lunsford was a promising young man just 21 years of age and possessed a warm, loving, generous nature, he was a young man of high integrity and unblemished character, being popular with all who knew him. We tender our heart felt sympathy to the dear ones who are made desolate by the untimely death of this most worthy young man.
