  Edward Onree Lewis of Porterdale passed away at his home on December 4, 
following an extended illness. A native of Henry County, he was the son of the 
late Burley Bay Lewis Sr. of McDonough and was 61 years old. He had resided in 
Newton County for many years and was a retired employee of Bibb Manufacturing 
Company.
  Funeral services will be conducted today (Thursday) December 6, at 3 o'clock 
at the Julia A. Porter Methodist Church in Porterdale with Rev. Cecil Dudley 
officiating. Interment will be in Lawnwood Memorial Park with Caldwell and 
Cowan Funeral Home in charge od arrangements. Serving as pallbearers will be 
Mike Johnson, Charles Thacker, Ronnie Wilson, Terry Wilson, Kim Allen and 
Kenneth Lewis.
  Surving are his wife, Mrs. Emma Jean Smith Lewis, Porterdale; sons, Edward 
Gary Lewis, Thomas Gerald Lewis, duaghter, Mrs. Brenda Lewis Bates, all of 
Covington; mother, Mrs. B. B. Lewis Sr., McDonough; brothers, Lawrence Lewis, 
B. B. Lewis Jr. Covington; sisters, Mrs. Laverne Weldon, McDonough, Mrs Jack  
Warren, Mrs. Mary Womack , Mrs. Morris Allen, Mrs Randle Wilson, all of 
Covington and four grandchildren.
