Maj. W. D. LUCKIE, of Atlanta, died at his home in that city, on last Thursday night, after a long and painful illness, of cancer of the stomach, aged about 43 years. Major LUCKIE was born in Covington, and grew to manhood among the people of our little city, who knew and loved him dearly. He entered the Confederate service as a member of the Athens Guards which formed company K, of the old 3d Ga. regiment, and served with distinction until the surrender at Appomattox. Since the war he has been engaged in business to Atlanta, and has made that city his home. He has filled many positions of honor and trust, and was cashier of the Merchants bank at the time of his death. He was an honest man and good citizen, and we can but mourn his untimely death. He was buried by the Knights Templars on Sunday afternoon.
