The many Covington friends of Mrs. Mary Lou McCalla, wife of Mr. James L. McCalla, were made sad when the news came here of her death, which occurred in Atlanta Tuesday evening at 6:45 o’clock at the family residence, 201 Cooper Street. The McCalla family were residents of this city for a number of years, and only moved to Atlanta a short time ago. Mrs. McCalla had been an invalid for several years and while her death was not unexpected, yet it carried with it the sadness always occasioned by the passing away of so true a Christian lady and loving mother. She was a daughter of Mr. Dan Zackary, years ago a resident of Newton county, and was, at the time of her death, 53 years of age. The remains were carried to Philadelphia Church, in Sheffield district, Rockdale County, and interred in the family burial ground amid a large concourse of relatives and friends. Besides her husband, Mrs. McCalla is survived by four children, Walter Z., James Ramsey, Miss Annie and Dan.
