Montgomery died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. T. Taylor, near Brick Store at 1 o'clock last Saturday afternoon of heart disease. For several years, Mr. Montgomery had made his home at Tulare, California, and came back to his old home in Newton county some six weeks ago. Soon after he arrived, he was taken ill, from which he never recovered, but continued to grow worse until death ended his sufferings last Saturday. He died in the county where he had spent more that half a century and where he was loved for those pure christian graces which marked his course through life. Mr. Montgomery was about 72 years of age. Two children still live, Mrs. J. T. Taylor, of Brick Store, and Mr. P. J. S. Montgomery, of Tulare, California. The deceased is survived by two sisters, Mrs. T. B. Haralson, of Social Circle, and Mrs. J. E. McConnell, of Vernon, Texas, and many relatives in this and Walton County. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. F. Allen of Emory College, Sunday morning at the Methodist Church in Social Circle and the remains laid to rest in the cemetery in the presence of a large concourse of relatives and friends.
