A true measure of life is not in years, but in deeds and in the good that develops from those deeds. If we measure the life of Mrs. Ann McDonald by this standard we can say, hers was full. The news of her death which sad event occurred at her home on May 23d, was received with universal sorrow by the community. Six weeks before her death she was comparatively in good health but disease seized upon her and, not withstanding the fact that skilled physicians and loving hands did all that human agencies could do, death claimed her as its victim. In her church she was dear to old and young, being a paton of every good virtue. If we could pass through the noblest religious life and call from it the rarest flowers and weave them into one bright picture it would barely portray the unselfish Christian career of Mrs. McDonald. Death is a mystery at all times, and when the cruel reaper comes amongst us and selects one so amiable we are more that mystified. But, while it is beyond our comprehension to understand why we should be deprived of the sweet influences of this noble life, when by her living she would have wooed her friends and associates to a higher, nobler life, we must humbly bow to the will of "Him who doeth all things well."
