  Louis A. Mann of Porterdale died in the V A Hospital on Wednesday, January 2, 

at the age of 54, following a lingering illness and hospitalization of two 

weeks. A native of Newton County, he was retired from the U S Army.

  Funeral services were held at Allen Memorial United Methodist Church in 

Oxford with Rev. Ed McWilliams, pastor of Harmony Baptist Church officiating at 

the services on Saturday afternoon, January 5.

  Interment was in Oxford Cemetery with J C Harwell and Son Funeral Home in 

charge of arrangements. Serving as pallbearers were Calvin Rutledge, John 

Rutledge, Lamar Rutledge, Roy Webb Jr., James Roberts and Dannie Mann.

  Surviving are two brothers, Claude Mann, Covington, E. S. Mann, Griffin; 

Sisters, Mrs. Ethel Dick, Porterdale; Mrs. Troy Rutledge, Covington and several 

nieces and nephews.
