He had been sick for some time and his death was not unexpected. Aged about 57 years. Mr. Norton was a kind and generous man, a true and steadfast friend, an affectionate and devoted husband and father. He was a charitable man and in him the poor and needy ever found in a friend. He was of a jovial, social disposition and had a kind and cheerful word for every one. He was one of the best known men in the county and his death will be mourned by hundreds of dear friends all over the state. He was a Mason, an Odd Fellow and a member of the Methodist Church, but best of all, he was an honest man, who did not fear to obey his Master’s call when the Angel of Death summoned him home. Our sympathies go out to the good wife, the relatives and friends of the deceased in their hour of bereavement. Peace be to his memory and rest to his immortal soul. Rev. R. J. Bigham preached a touching sermon on the life and character of Mr. Norton, and officiated at the burial service, on Thursday afternoon.
