Georgia Enterprise, April 9, 1896
  Mrs. Mary Norton, who died in Covington on the morning of April 1st, was
a gentle Christian lady esteemed and beloved by all who knew her. The funeral
services came off in the Methodist church on Thursday and was conducted by Rev.
Dr. J. M. White. Mrs. Norton was kind and liberal to the poor and needy and
will be greatly missed and sadly mourned by her many relatives and friends
here and elsewhere. She was the wife of Mr. John Norton, dec'd., and a daughter
of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Berry. A short time before her death she had 
handsome marble headstones placed on the graves of her father, mother, and 
child, but was too feeble to go to the cemetery to see the work which was 
completed just five days before she died.
