OGLETREE Death in a recent visitation to our midst, has claimed as its victims one of fairest young women. On Nov. 6th, as the sabbath was nearing its close, the spirit of Mrs. MAMIE SMITH OGLETREE sweetly passed to the other side of the river. She was just budding into womanhood a girl of eighteen summers. Born into this world only to attain to the morning of life's journey, she has left a message of sweetness, purity and love, which will be remembered by all who knew her. From childhood she has lived for others, in her home life through the care and tenderness for the younger members of her family, was a marked characteristic. She not only was beautiful in appearance, but possessed those qualities which make up a well rounded character. Feb. 2nd she was married to Mr. Ben Ogletree, her wedded life, though brief, was a happy one, her devotion to her husband exhibiting itself to the last. May he not, in this dark hour be left to march life's journey alone, but may he feel the touch of the Divine arms as they are folded closer about him by God's promises. May God's healing grace bind up the broken hearts of the fond parents, brother and sisters. We know our Heavenly Father makes no mistakes. For some wise purpose he has gathered to another one out of this little flock and with beckoning hands they watch on the other shore. Her funeral was preached at the Methodist Church by Rev. Timmerman Monday, 8 P. M. after which her remains were carried to the new cemetery. "Not now but in the coming years, It may be in a better land. We'll read the meaning of our tears and there sometime we'll understand."
