W. OSBORN Mr. Wiley W. OSBORN departed this life on Thursday morning, Sept. 8, at about 5 o’clock. He had been sick for a long time and his death was not unexpected. Aged about 60 years. Few, if any, better men ever lived or died than was Brother Osborn. He had lived a pious Christian life and felt no uneasiness about the great hereafter, and when the angel came to summon him home he was ready and willing to go. For years he had been an officer in the Methodist church and in Golden Fleece Masonic Lodge and was esteemed by all who knew him. He was a member of the Third Georgia regiment and made a brave and gallant soldier during the late war. He was Coroner of Newton County at the time of death. He was a conscientious man who had opinions on all living issues, and possessed courage enough to defend the right against the wrong. It was our privilege to know Brother Osborn, and for almost 30 years he was our friend, good and true. It is not our intention to write even a brief biography of the life and character of this good man, for that would be impossible at this time. He loved and served the Lord and has gone to claim the reward promised the faithful. He leaves a devoted wife and four loving children, three sons and one daughter, besides many relatives and friends to lament his loss and cherish his pure and spotless memory. At 4 p. m., a large number of Masons met in the lodge room and marched to the residence, where they took charge of the body and carried it to the church. The religious services were conducted by Presiding Elder R. J. BIGHAM assisted by Rev. R. W. BIGHAM. At the grave he was laid to rest, just at sundown, with Masonic honors. He belonged to two mutual insurance orders and had policies on his life to the amount of five thousand dollars.
