McCalla, 76, retired farmer, formerly of Conyers and Covington, who for the past three years has made his home with his sister-in-law, Mrs. Sue McCalla, 740 Central Avenue, was found dead in bed at the Conyers hotel early Sunday morning where he had gone for a short visit Mr. McCalla had been in declining health for some years and his death, although sudden, was not unexpected by members of his family. He was a member of the Philadelphia Methodist church, near Conyers, and well known in that section. Surviving are three sons, W. Z. McCalla, of Lexington, Ky.; James R. McCalla, of Newnan and Dan H. McCalla, of Atlanta; three brothers, M. F. McCalla and Dr. C. W. McCalla both of Atlanta; a daughter, Mrs. G. H. Boyd, of Tate, Ga., and seven grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Conyers at 3 o'clock from a Conyers undertaking chapel and interment was in the churchyard at the Philadelphia Methodist Church.
