In Memory of Miss Sara Turner
  There has been plucked from Covington one of her sweetest and most fragrant
flowers and it is with a sad heart that I make this effort to describe the
beautiful character that was portrayed in her life, because I feel that I
would indeed be ungrateful, should I fail to express my appreciation for
the hallowed influence her life had upon mine.
  She was one of the brightest and most beautiful Christian characters I have
ever had the pleasure to know. Her Christian character and influence has
been an inspiration to me.
  As a teacher she had no superior. To the pupils she was always kind and
inspiring. The pupils obeyed her, not through fear, but for the love and
respect they had for her. I have frequently heard the children say, "she
is the best teacher we ever had." It is not strange. How can we help loving
the lovely? Its influence and fragrance is thrown out to all those with whom
it comes in contact. She was sympathetic and encouraging. It was something
marvelous,the way she bore her suffering, never complaining. The star of hope
never failed to shine in her soul. She was noble, generous and true under all 
circumstances and her life throbbed so in harmony with the teachings of her
Master, that all who were merely acquainted with her realized that she was
a charming ideal Christian woman, Her thoughts concerning Christ, the Bible,
and teachings were convincing, unusually clear for one so young in years.
The truthful thoughts she lodged in the minds of her pupils will continue
to grow and make jewels for her crown.
