Mrs. Emily Stallings
Sept. 12, 1896
  Mrs. Emily Stallings, one of the oldest and best ladies in Newton county, 
died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Rufus Meadors, in Oxford, on Sept. 12th. 
At the time of her death she was about 92 years of age. She was the grand 
mother of Mr. W. E. Smith, of this city, and also related to Mr. S. N. 
Stallings. Her body was laid to rest in the cemetery near the old Aycock
shop, 3 miles south of town.
