Georgia Enterprise, Oct. 15, 1896
  Master Thomas J. Shields, Jr., only child of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Shields, 
of this city, departed this life on Wednesday, Oct. 7th. Aged about 8 years and 
7 months. He was a bright and promising youth and his death fell with crushing 
weight upon the hearts of his devoted parents, who have the deep sympathy of 
all our people in their time of grief and sorrow over the death of their 
precious son. His body was laid to rest in the family section in the city 
cemetery. Rev. T. J. Swanson conducted the funeral services.
