D. (Dewey) Monk of Rt. 2, Covoington, passed away suddenly at his home Friday, December 21. Funeral services were held Sunday, December 23 from the Chapel of Caldwell and Cowan Funeral Home. Rev. Karl Wooster officiated at the last rites. Mr. Monk, 74, was a native of Cottonwood, Houston County, Alabama. He was the son of the late Isiah and Julia Best Monk. He and his wife resided in the Almon Community for the past 28 years. Mr. Monk was a retired employee of Bibb Manufacturing Company. Interment was at Lawnwood Memorial Park with his grandsons serving as pallbearers. Caldwell and Cowan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Survivers include his wife, Mrs. Sadie Croom Monk; son, J. B. Monk, all of Covington; daughter, Mrs. Alcye Freeman, Conyers; brother, Esto Monk, Cottonwood, Alabama; sister, Mrs. Minnie M. Skinner, Covington, eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
