     Mr. Bright Picket died at his residence in Newton county, of Dropsy, on 
the evening of the 21st., aged, 73 years. One by one the heads of our old men
are being laid under the sod. Within the past year at least twenty of our oldest
citizens have passed away. Soon the last link of the once long chain of the 
first settlers of our county will be no more. Will the history of these old 
fathers stimulate the rising generation to emulate their example and follow in 
the footprints of their good deeds?
