C. Smith, Was Found Monday Afternoon. The body of Irvine Smith, the ten-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Smith, of the Cherokee Mills, was found in a pond near the Kincaid Mills No. 2 Monday afternoon by J. W. Howard, following the discovery of a boy's clothing near the edge of the water by Emory and Homer Bunn, two playmates. The boy had told friends that he was going in search of empty bottles and the supposition is that he went in bathing, drowning in four and one-half feet of water. The search for the missing boy was urged by his mother, who told Mr. Howard that clothing had been found near the pond by the Bunn boys. An investigation by Coroner J. M. Bell resulted in the following verdict. "We, the coroner's jury, find that Irvine Smith came to his death by drowning and that the same was accidental. F. S. Pittman, foreman; L. R. Harrison, J. H. Powell, L. O. Daniel, W. C. Parnell." The remains were taken to County Line church, Newton county, Tuesday for interment, the funeral services being conducted by Rev. W. R. Odom.
