The Covington Star, March 25, 1885
     Rev. J. W. Quillian, of Athens, died in Oxford, on Thursday last. Some 
time since he came to Oxford for the purpose of nursing a sick brother, who was 
a student at Emory college, and while doing so, contracted the disease which 
resulted in his untimely death. Mr. Quillian was a prominent and able minister 
of the Methodist church, and his death has caused a deep sorrow among his hosts 
of friends all over Georgia. His remains were carried to Athens for burial.
