Richardson, the beloved wife of Col. W. U. Richardson, passed gently from earth, in their home at Sparta, Bienville Parish, La, March 10th, 1890. She died suddenly, her physicians think of heart trouble. She was at supper with the family as usual, but alas, in a little while the happy family circle is broken, the loving and devoted wife and mother is dead. She was the daughter of Dr. R. M. and Frances C. Tarver and granddaughter of the late Isaac P. and Ruth Henderson, of Covington, Ga. She was born in Jackson Parish, La., Feb. 6th, 1853, and married Oct. 17th, 1878, to Col. W. U. Richardson. Four sons and one daughter blessed their union, of which the daughter and two youngest sons survive, the youngest, a baby boy, born Jan. 26th, 1890. She was one of the best women I ever knew. Faithful to all the obligations of this life, and beloved by all who knew her, she leaves behind her an example worthy of imitation. At the early age of fifteen, by the death of her mother, the responsibility of the household and the care and training of a younger brother and sister devolved upon her, and she bravely assumed the responsibility and faithfully performed her duties. But our Heavenly Father, whose thoughts and ways are infinitely above ours, has seen proper to take her dear spirit to himself, in a world, as I cannot but believe, of everlasting light and love and rest. May the Lord bless the motherless children and give the grief-stricken husband, in this the severest trial of his life, his indispensable grace to enable him to kiss the rod that smites him, and to bear with meekness and resignation the dreadful blow.
