TRIBUTE OF RESPECT
Covington Sub-Alliance, No. 20_1
Covington, Ga., August 22, 1891
     WHEREAS, He who rules and governs the universe has seen proper to remove 
form our midst, BRO. J. M. ROBERTS, therefore be it
     Resolved, 1st, That in the death of Bro. ROBERTS the town of Covington and 
the county of Newton have lost a true and faithful citizen; his good wife has 
been bereft of a loyal and faithful companion, his children deprived of a 
devoted and loving parent; and the Covington sub-alliance, of which he was a 
worthy member, has lost a true brother, and an earnest worker.
     Resolved, 2d, That as we loved our friend and brother in life, we revere 
his spotless memory in death; sorrow with those who mourn his tragic and 
untimely end; and, as an evidence of our respect and admiration for Bro. 
ROBERTS, it is ordered that these resolutions be spread upon our minutes; that 
a copy be sent to the family of our deceased brother, whom to us is not “dead,” 
but “only sleepeth,” and that the same be published in both our county papers.
