Shell, died at the home of his brother's children, in Houston, Miss., on Jan. 27. "God's finger touched him," and the old man gently fell to sleep. For many long years he was a citizen of Covington, and was well and favorably known to the people of Newton and adjoining counties. Mr. Shell was an honest, Christian gentleman, and one of the kindest hearted men we ever met. He was never married, but when misfortune and sickness came and his reason was dethroned, kind and devoted relatives tendered him a home where he could live in peaceful plenty until the Angel of Death should pilot him to a resting place in his Father's House beyond the skies. At the time of his death he was 75 or 80 years of age. One by one the golded links which bind the living present to, the departed part are being rudely severed by the cold and icy hand of death. One by one the old Landmarks are being removed. Soon we younger people will grow gray and the brief span allotted will have been past. In the rosy morn of youth and health let us make preparation for the solomn hour which shall call us from time to eternity.
